Formulation Benefits

Why formulators choose DIM

Diindolylmethane is one of the most studied dietary indoles in nutritional science. Since 1992, Designed Nutritional has supplied DIM to supplement brands and formulators building products in hormone balance, women's wellness, antioxidant, and men's health categories.

DIM is a direct metabolite of Indole-3-Carbinol (I3C) formed naturally during digestion. As a finished compound, DIM offers greater stability and more consistent dosing than I3C in finished formulations, making it the preferred choice for capsule and tablet applications. [Ref. 7, 8]
Suggested Dosage Range
100 – 200 mg/day
Adults. Children may take up to ½ adult dosage.

⚖️

Hormone Balance*

DIM supports healthy estrogen metabolism by promoting conversion toward 2-Hydroxyestrone and supporting normal hormonal balance in both men and women. Widely used in hormone balance formulations for women's and men's wellness product lines.

🛡️

Liver Function Support*

DIM supports the liver's natural metabolic processes, including normal phase I and phase II enzyme activity involved in hormone and toxin processing. Commonly included in liver support and detoxification product formulations.

Ref. [1] Michnovicz & Bradlow, 1991
🌿

Antioxidant Activity*

DIM functions as a dietary indole antioxidant, supporting normal cellular protection from oxidative stress. Highly colored degradation products are considered beneficial and are the same compounds formed naturally in the stomach upon ingestion.

Women's Wellness*

DIM supports healthy hormone balance in women, including normal estrogen metabolism associated with cycle and menopause transitions. A foundational ingredient in women's wellness formulations. Backed by peer-reviewed research.

Men's Wellness*

DIM supports healthy androgen balance in men, including normal testosterone metabolism and healthy hormone levels. Widely used in men's wellness formulations targeting hormone balance and overall vitality.

Formulation Stability

DIM is stable at room temperature when protected from light. Two-year shelf life from date of manufacture. More stable in finished formulations than I3C, making it the preferred choice for capsule, tablet, and powder product formats.
